These young boys were tribals from Manipur, a state in North- East of India. they were killed in Churachandpur district in firing by state police. An inquiry into the incident is pending.
The police firing followed the incidents of mob of tribals setting houses of local MP and MLA on fire. Local and National Media has reported the incident.
Union Minister for home affairs had Kiran Rijuji asked state Government to take steps to maintain peace and tranquility.
The violence was triggered by passage of three bills -- Protection of Manipur People Bill, 2015, Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms (Seventh amendment) Bill, 2015 and Manipur Shops and Establishments (Second Amendment) Bill, 2015. Tribals fear that these legislation would allow "outsiders" to have rights over tribal land and not protect the indigenous people.
